REPOA's Annual Research Workshop continues to be the largest and longest running annual event hosted by a Tanzanian research institute. The objectives of the event are to disseminate research findings as a contribution towards policy making, to provide peer review as capacity building for researchers and to provide a networking forum for debate and dialogue among stakeholders.

This year, REPOA celebrated its 18thAnnual Research Workshop (ARW) on April 3rd – 4th at Kunduchi Beach Hotel & Resort, in Dar es Salaam. The theme was The Quest for Inclusive Development.

As in previous years, the workshop was kicked off with a number of speeches, these included:
A speech by REPOA’s Executive Director, Professor Samuel Wangwe; and
• A statement by H.E. Dr. Ad Koekkoek, Ambassador for Netherlands.

The Opening address was presented by H.E. Dr. Gharib Bilal, Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, who was the guest of honor at the event.

The opening address was followed by a keynote address delivered by Datuk Chris Tan, Director, Performance Management And Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) - Malaysia.  The keynote address focused on ‘Problems vs. Polarities : The Importance of Understanding Stakeholder Nuances In Your Quest For Inclusive Growth’.

This was followed by remarks from two discussants;
Prof. Benno Ndulu, (Governor Bank of Tanzania and   World Bank Advisor to the Manager of the Partnership Group), Prof. Brian van Arkadie from Netherlands (Chairman, CDP Utrecht, Development Consultants) and Mr. Ali Mufuruki (Chairman and CEO of Infotech Investment Group LTD of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania)
