(March 27-28th, 2007, Dar es Salaam)

REPOA's Annual Research Workshop has grown to be the largest and longest running annual event hosted by a Tanzanian research institution. Our keynote annual event the three-fold benefit of:
  • disseminating research findings as a contribution towards policy making,
  • providing peer review as capacity building for researchers, and
  • providing a networking forum for debate and dialogue among stakeholders.

Honourable Dr Batilda Burian (MP), Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office (Parliamentary Affairs and Government Coordination) opened this year's workshop. The full text of the Minister's speech is available.

Also available is the speech given by REPOA’s Executive Director, Professor Joseph Semboja.

35 presentations were made over the two days, predominantly by researchers whose research project had been funded by REPOA. Topics covered REPOA's research areas: growth and poverty, vulnerability and social protection, social-political and cultural issues, environment and agriculture, gender, governance and technology.

A wide cross-section of participants (188, including 47 from outside of Dar es Salaam) from central and local government, civil society organisations (CSOs), the private sector, development partners and the research community attended this year's workshop.

The workshop concluded with a plenary session and a paper summarising the findings from this session will be available here soon.
