Training course on "Conceptualising Poverty"
REPOA invites beginning and junior researchers interested in poverty studies to a training course "Conceptualising Poverty". The objective of this workshop is to enhance the capabilities of researchers to develop appropriate conceptual frameworks for poverty analysis relevant to their research endeavours.
The workshop will review key conceptions of poverty and alternative approaches to poverty analysis, such as:
Candidate Requirements:
Preference will be given to candidates who are in the process of developing a concept note (research idea) and/or a research proposal on (policy analysis for) poverty, and who seek to benefit from the workshop to tackle the challenges of conceptualisation in their respective research endeavours. The training workshop will be held in Dar es Salaam from 21st to 26th May 2007. Travel and accommodation for participants from outside Dar es Salaam will be provided. Further information can be obtained from REPOA. Applicants should submit: A typed application letter together with a completed information sheet, and detailed curriculum vitae, including a photocopy of their university grades. Applicants are encouraged (but not strictly required) to provide a brief statement - 250 words, at most - of a research idea they are presently working on.
