Training on Data Exploration: Using R REPOA invites beginning and junior researchers or policy analysts interested in poverty studies to a training workshop on “Exploratory Data Analysis:Using R”.The objective of this workshop is to provide practical guidance to beginning researchers on how to use data description as a tool for discovery, i.e. getting ideas from the data (hypothesis searching). Course Content includes:
- Principles and methods of exploratory data analysis – univariate, bivariate and multivariate
- Tools to visualize quantitative data from a perspective of hypothesis searching
- Introduction to Open source software R – a powerful statistical software package
The training workshop will be held in Dar es Salaam from 26 – 30 July 2010. Participants will be sponsored for their travel and accommodation. Applicants Requirements: Minimum of a first degree, and preferably in Economics A background in statistics and / or econometrics Some experience in research is preferable Involvement in routine data collection on own field and/or survey or panel data or work with official data will be an added advantage Knowledge with at least one spreadsheet software such as Excel
